Resumen
In this section of the Voces y Regiones program, a farmer who was kidnapped by the guerrilla shares his testimony about the forced recruitment of young people, who were coerced or deceived into joining these armed groups. He recounts how, due to the pressure of violence in his territory, he was forced to flee, leaving behind his home and way of life in the countryside.
Forced displacement in Colombia has been one of the most devastating consequences of the armed conflict, affecting millions of people who have had to flee their communities to save their lives. However, upon arriving in major cities, these displaced populations face new challenges. Access to housing, decent employment, and basic services such as healthcare and education becomes a daily struggle. Many of these individuals end up in marginalized neighborhoods, where the lack of opportunities exposes them to new forms of violence and exploitation.
The interviewee’s testimony also highlights how some displaced youth, unable to find state support or development opportunities, become trapped in urban violence, low-paying jobs, or even exploitative networks such as prostitution. His story underscores the urgent need to strengthen public policies that protect and integrate displaced victims, ensuring they have real opportunities to rebuild their lives with dignity.
