Resumen
The implementation of the Globally Harmonized System (GHS) in Colombia has been taking place since the 90s, however, it is until the departure of Decree 1496 of 2018 that the country formally adopts this system, forcing all economic sectors to include it within its chemical risk prevention activities. For this reason, Bessac Andina, a micro-tunnel construction company classified as a consumer of chemical substances, decides to adopt the GHS. The adoption process is initially carried out through a diagnostic that discloses the preliminary status of the company against the substance identification system, with which a tool is developed that allows have more control over the products that are held in the work fronts, identify the priority substances and that the harmonized label generates as an instrument for workers to adequately identify the hazards to which they are exposed in the development of their tasks. This process of adopting the GHS in the company can be taken as the first step or basis for the development of a program that allows it to effectively manage chemical risk.
