Resumen
The Theater Direction emphasis of the Performing Arts program of the Arts Faculty of “Universidad Distrital Francisco José de Caldas”, because of it´s historic, curricular and structural characteristics, is a unique and pioneer program; therefore, any effort to reach it´s continuous improving, is valuable. “Actor directing” is a chore element for theatre directing, since, from a classical perspective, the actor is the most important element of theatre. The main objective of this research is to analyse the Theatre Directing emphasis of the Performing Arts program of the Faculty of arts of “Universidad Distrital Francisco José de Caldas” in regards to the learning process of Actor Directing; analysing four different aspects: Structural analysis of the curriculum (last three syllabus), analysis of subject´s contents, analysis of academic showcase, analysis of student´s and graduate´s opinion. A panoramic enquiry/ research of the history of occidental theatre tradition was used in order to build a general definition of the concept theatre directing as well as defining concrete strategies for its study. This research found that the curriculum is not precise in regards to the specific strategies, contents, and methodologies of the Actors Directing teaching and suggests some improving strategies related to curricular flexibility and explicit incorporation of these contents in the curriculum.
