Resumen
This research seeks to estimate cardiovascular risk in teachers of the Faculty of Engineering of the District University "Francisco José de Caldas", according to the WHO / ISH cardiovascular risk prediction tables for the WHO epidemiological subregions: AMR A, AMR B, AMR D, from health promotion and prevention.
The prevalence of changes in body mass index (BMI) was 34%. Smoking was 7%, diabetes mellitus was 2% and hypertension was 6%, considering both genders. Age and non-smoking were the non-modifiable and modifiable risk factors respectively that had the greatest impact on the calculated risk values.
One hundred percent of the population studied had a low level of calculated risk. In spite of the above, campaigns to promote healthy habits in the population studied should be strengthened.
