Verificación de la Efectividad del Transporte de Acero, Vía Río Magdalena vs Transporte por Carretera

Abstract

The steel sector in Colombia is deficient in steel production and close to 50% belong to importations (Portafolio, 2012), because national production does not stock up the Colombia demand, it is needed the commercialization the imported steel , in which has 20% of the national market (Portfolio, 2012), 73% is held by located in the national manufacturing with foreign investment and almost 7% corresponds a national business in production and investment. Taking into account that scenario is supporting the local product the government encourages laws and regulations such as “Salvaguarda taxes” and dumping, these are affecting the possibility to compete with the own market, in addition, distribution ‘costs for the business increases the price, it is decreasing the utility. In fact, this document is a proposal to evaluate the best organization to the steel transport network for the company using “Lineal programming”, in which allows optimization of costs, supplying demand required, without it affect the benefits.
