Resumen
This document intends to respond to the theory that asserts that the level of income is a determining socioeconomic factor in the generation of solid waste; It is stated that populations with greater purchasing power generate a greater amount of recyclable waste, while populations with high poverty rates tend to generate non-usable waste, and with that, to pollute more. From the spatial analysis of data, this document addresses the relationship poverty - waste generation, through the incorporation of a mixed methodology that contains quantitative information for the realization of spatial statistical tests, which allows to establish the existence or not of spatial dependence among the variables of waste generation and poverty index in the áreas near the Cerros Orientales of Bogotá and thus, to be able to address the problem according to its criticality. Once the results of the proposed methodology have been obtained, the existence of the positive correlation between the studied variables is demonstrated, where high-high values are presented in the zones of Usme and Chapinero; based on these results, action plans were established to comprehensively mitigate both the environmental problems associated with solid waste pollution and the socio-economic problems of these zones.
