La fuerte alteración de la cobertura vegetal natural y el uso intensivo del suelo mediante cultivos de arroz han generado una serie de problemáticas socioambientales en la microcuenca Guanayas-Upín, localizada entre los municipios de Granada, Fuentedeoro y San Juan de Arama, en el departamento del Meta. A partir del principal problema identificado y relacionado con la oferta y la demanda del recurso hídrico en los meses secos (diciembre, enero y febrero), se formuló el Plan de Manejo y Ordenamiento de la microcuenca con participación comunitaria. Este plan está conformado por los programas relacionados con el manejo integral de ecosistemas, planificación y administración eficiente del medio ambiente, generación de ingresos y empleo verde, educación ambiental, gestión integrada del recurso hídrico, fortalecimiento social y fortalecimiento cultural y deportivo. El plan está integrado por 31 proyectos, cuyos costos totales son de $6.577.429.536.
A series of social and environmental problems have been caused by the strong alteration of the natural forest cover, and the intensive soil use for rice crops in the Guanayas-Upín, a basin located among the counties Granada, Fuentedeoro, and San Juan de Arama, Meta.
