Resumen
The image contains a news item about the message issued on June 2, 1855 in which Mr. Pastor Ospina declared himself Governor of the province, absent from his homeland due to the banishment he received for his efforts to reestablish the rule of law and constitutional freedom. Ospina accepts the appointment of governor and moves to Bogotá.
However, he is also called by the province of his birth to attend Congress, so he must move to another province and join the defenders of the Constitution. From the province of Tequendama, Ospina takes advantage of his appointment as Governor of Bogotá to summon and unite the inhabitants of the Sabana in support of the cause.
After the attack in Zipaquirá, Ospina is forced to help the dispersed people heading to Villeta. Then, the person in charge of the Executive Power asks Ospina to assume two Secretariats of State and accompany him in the difficult task of creating new forces to overthrow the traitors.
After restoring public order, Ospina separates from the Government Secretariat, but is then called back by the person in charge of the Executive Branch due to the state of transition in the province. Despite having personal businesses, Ospina agrees to be Governor again for a few months to fulfill the trust of the citizens of Bogotá.
Ospina recognizes the abilities of the citizen who will replace him in office and trusts that he will contribute to the reorganization of the province. Although he cannot fully fulfill his destiny, Ospina is committed to providing useful services for the province of Bogotá.
Finally, Ospina expresses his gratitude for the support received and calls for the circumstances that prevented him from fully fulfilling his duty to be made known. He trusts that the person in charge of the Government will contribute to the order and future prosperity of the province. This statement by Pastor Ospina was sent on June 18, 1855 and was published in El Repertorio de Bogotá, on June 2, 1855.
