Resumen
Arbitral analysis and technology in football interview with José Borda:Arbitral analyst José Borda focuses on the controversial decisions that have marked football, especially those related to the use of technology and changes in regulations. One of the most remembered cases is the hand goal by Peruvian player Raúl Ruiz Díaz, which eliminated Brazil in the Copa América Centenario. This incident generated great controversy, as at that time the Video Assistant Referee (VAR) system was still in the experimental phase and was only authorized in six leagues, such as MLS. Therefore, it was not available for either the Copa América or the Eurocup, which prevented the referee of the Peru-Brazil match from reviewing the play on a monitor.Borda explains that VAR is designed to intervene only in four specific situations, in order to not affect the flow of the game:Doubtful goals (due to handball or offside).Penalties.Direct red cards. instead of repeating the charge. Finally, the debate opens up on the concept of "cunning", that malice or cleverness characteristic of South American football. Is it cheating or part of the game? Actions like Maradona's hand goal, the simulations of fouls ("diving") or attempts to deceive the referee are discussed, questioning whether they are an acceptable part of football culture or, on the contrary, practices that compromise the ethics of the sport.
