Resumen
The Instituto Geográfico Agustín Codazzi (IGAC) is committed to produce, provide and disseminate reliable and timely information and knowledge in geodesy, geography, cartography, agrology, cadastre, geospatial technologies and knowledge transfer in mission areas (Instituto Agustín Codazzi - IGAC, 2017). The basic technical regulations are timely for the correct execution of deliverables to the entity, where the minimum requirements and specific recommendations are established. Therefore, it is feasible to develop a guide for topographic surveys with GPS that complies with quality standards and serves as a guideline for small and/or medium-sized companies that offer services with a topographic focus, and also in processes within an academic space. Geodetic works are an important basis within the development of any civil works, infrastructure, urban planning, roads, so that currently the determination of precise coordinates, control points or measurements in general on the surface, require compliance with the parameters implemented by competent authorities. The document that is proposed is a methodological guide for topographic surveys with GPS, establishing as a basis the current regulations of the IGAC (Instituto Geográfico Agustín Codazzi) given Resolution 1562 of 2018 and Resolution 643 of 2018, where the technical specifications of topographic surveys are adapted, in order to synthesise the different processes that must be carried out for a correct GPS positioning. As an example, the accuracy standards that must be met according to the regulations in geodetic networks, the characteristics of geodetic control points and their correct classification; thus outlining an analysis of the final products and the geographic information obtained.
