The image contains news about the appointment of José María Ortega as governor of the province, by the Executive Branch. To hold office for a constitutional period. The Senate of the province's chamber included Fernando Caicedo y Santamaría, General Francisco de P. Vélez, Dr. Ezequiel Rojas, Colonel José Acevedo and Dr. Félix Castro. Ortega initially excused himself from accepting the appointment due to health problems and his aversion to any position of command. However, the Executive Branch rejected his excuse, considering his services as governor useful. Finally, Ortega accepted and took a constitutional oath before the Secretary of the Interior and Foreign Relations, who was commissioned by the President of the Republic.
