Abstract

Cartography of memory - Memories of a traveler is a project which addresses travel as an action that can be carried out through memories. A memory's exercise and an attempt to forget, preserve and tell determined events. It is a serie of stories that were inspired by experiences of the author related to some of his most memorable moments as a traveler: his childhood adventures, bicycle tours through Cundinamarca and backpacking activities in Colombia. The discovery of his grandfather's archive was also an inspiration for this serie, same as multiple stories that he shared with him about his journeys in various destinations and cultures. Starting from that memory's exercise, a visual story was created for the plastic proposal of this work. It is made by series of fragments between drawings, paintings, typewritten documents, pictures of his grandfather's personal archive, objects found during the tours and travel guides of Cundinamarca.
