Resumen
This image contains news about the victims feeling repeated acts of arbitrariness by the government and expressing their distrust that there will be a change towards justice. They present a complaint to the authorities in charge of safeguarding the interests of all Colombians, requesting a law that protects them against the constant abuses suffered by public writers under the accusation of conspiracy or publishing subversive material. The government, according to them, uses its power to deprive journalists who do not share its opinions of their rights, applying measures without legal basis. They cite that the executive branch, empowered by the transitional constitution, issued several decrees to regulate the press, which should be respected by everyone, including the government. However, they claim that these decrees are not being followed correctly and that resolutions have been issued without legal support, ignoring existing legislation. They are not asking for excessive freedoms, but for a law that puts limits on this arbitrary system and allows them to practice their profession without being deprived of their rights, as in the case of a printing press that they need to support a widowed sister who is its owner. News published in the newspaper La Patria, No. 1-4, October 10, 1894.
