Resumen
This image contains news about love for the country and the desire for the public good that motivate the author to address the audience, aware of the arduous destiny that divine providence has assigned them. He feels obliged to fulfill his duties, guided by zeal for the religion of Jesus and the peace of mind of the citizens. He is contrasted with the enemies of the country, who present things in a criminal light. He assures that his only objective is the well-being of the citizens and the elimination of any suspicion about the loss of the sacrosanct religion. The author's main care is to make citizens happy, both in this life and in the next. The enemies of the sacred cause, desperate for the continuous triumphs of Colombian arms, have begun a bloodier and more desolating war. They have attributed horrible crimes of impiety and religious persecution to the leaders of the Republic and their main agents. They allege that the religion of Jesus Christ is being outraged, that its ministers are outlawed, and that the religion is being destroyed by insubordination. They insist that the primary duty is to guard the religion of the parents and that impious magistrates are unworthy of obedience, leading the audience toward anarchy and disobedience. He denounces that these enemies, with the mask of religion, intend to ruin citizens while pretending to desire their well-being. Faced with these machinations, the author feels responsible before the eternal being and seeks to put a stop to this evil. From his position in the church, the author sincerely addresses the audience, urging them to remain calm within their homeland. News published in the loose leaf newspaper, No. 1, October 9, 1822.
