Resumen
This work describes the study of the February 2018 fire in the Sierra de la Macarena. This fire has been one of the most important in recent years, leaving an impact of approximately 6,000 ha. The burned area is calculated using spectral indices of vegetation and combination of bands from Sentinel-2 and Landsat 8 images. Eight spectral indices, NDVI, dNDVI, NBR, dNBR SAVI, EVI, NDre2 and BAI are also used to study the photosynthetic activity of vegetation before and after the fire, the severity of the damage caused to the vegetation and the behavior of plant regeneration. Where a strong reduction in photosynthetic activity was found in the weeks immediately after the fire, in the following months the study area was affected by heavy rains, contributing to the germination and regrowth of vegetation, thus affecting its spectral response, Only after the summer season has started does the low photosynthetic activity become visible in the areas that suffered the greatest severity of the fire.
