Resumen
This thesis addresses a pedagogical-investigative study developed in an educational institution in Altos de Cazucá (Soacha) about the strengthening of critical geographic thinking in a group of high school students, based on the analysis of the media construction of the geographic contexts of the participants, in this case, from the so-called peri-urban spaces. For this purpose, a construction of the concepts of the peri-urban, the media construction of space and critical geographic thinking was carried out based on different theoretical perspectives. The methodological application framework related to a qualitative approach and the implementation of a pedagogical-didactic strategy based on the approaches of the action research design was also established. Findings related to a strengthening of skills and cognitive elements emerged from this theoretical and practical framework, which in turn generated political formation processes based on analysis practices and media production in relation to the ways of constructing and mobilizing the peripheral spaces. Likewise, the development of this research allowed to show that the particular forms of strengthening this type of thinking in the studied population depended on a systemic and relational process between the skills and the cognitive elements that are necessary to be able to analyze, reflect and question not only the spatial reality of peri-urban environments, but also the social and political one, understood as a geographical context in which its actors live.
