Resumen
The Voces y Regiones program addresses the role of women in politics and their participation in political parties. It highlights the importance of the gender quota in Colombia, a legal mechanism aimed at ensuring female representation in decision-making spaces. This regulation mandates that at least 30% of candidates on electoral lists must be women, with the objective of reducing inequality and fostering greater inclusion in politics.
Despite legal advancements, women continue to face obstacles such as discrimination, lack of institutional support, and cultural barriers that limit their access to positions of power. Active participation of women in politics is essential to promote gender equity and strengthen democracy, as it brings diverse perspectives and broadens the representation of society's interests.
In the program, representatives from the United Nations mention the upcoming gender equality summit to be held in the city of Armenia. This event aims to analyze the achievements in gender equity, identify remaining challenges, and propose strategies to strengthen women's political participation. The summit also seeks to raise public awareness about the importance of ensuring equal opportunities and advancing toward gender parity at all decision-making levels
