Resumen
The work "Design and evaluation of a sustainable fish farming system" consisted of the design of a fish farming system combined with a hydroponic culture which is defined under the name of "aquaponics" which is structured from a concept of recirculation and use of the residues produced by a fish culture of red tilapia. The design includes a fish pond with a greenhouse that makes use of solar energy, a decanter tank as the first step for treatment and a hydroponic crop that is responsible for playing the role of the treatment system for discharges from the pond, for Lastly, it contains a storage tank and a hydraulic ram to recirculate the treated water at the beginning of the system. Based on this design, an evaluation of indicators was carried out regarding environmental sustainability, technical feasibility, financial viability and social acceptability. The evaluation of the chosen indicators allowed a comparison of the designed system with a conventional one, which yielded positive results for the system since it had better sustainable performances in the four indicators and reveals that it is possible to implement this type of system for the production of tilapia. red as long as the product obtained from the cultivation of hydroponic green fodder is marketed. However, the design of the system was proposed with appropriate and durable materials, and allows the performance of the fish farming activity exerting less impact on the water resource. The project revealed to have a profitability of 23% on the cost of the product, which allows an investment in a very short recovery time due to the characteristics of hydroponic green fodder due to its rapid growth, easy maintenance and low production cost compared to products. available on the market for feeding animals such as chickens, cows, guinea pigs and rabbits.
