Resumen
The image contains a news report about two religious festivals in Bogotá in August 1807. The first, on August 6, commemorates the Transfiguration of the Lord and the anniversary of the Conquest, with parades and historical symbols. The second, on August 24, celebrates Saint Bartholomew the Apostle with processions and the burning of a figure of the Devil. These celebrations reflect the religious and cultural tradition of the time. A nighttime performance is held with a rope lowered from the cathedral tower, accompanied by fireworks. It is associated with Saint Bartholomew the Apostle's triumphs over the Devil in Armenia and may have begun in 1592 under Archbishop Bartolomé Lobo Guerrero. The tradition reflects a combination of faith, history, and local culture, including the symbolism of burning the Devil during religious festivals in Santa Fe. News report published in the Redactor Americano on August 2, 1807.
