Abstract

The transport of dangerous goods overland can represent a latent threat to various environments and individuals that directly or indirectly act in the transportation process. For this reason, it is necessary to have a fundamental control tool that mitigates risks and attends in a timely and effective manner any eventuality that might occur during the transportation process. This contingency plan complies with Colombian legislation and is developed to prevent disasters. Furthermore, it establishes the actions to be carried out in the event of a disaster in order to protect all types of resources. This plan includes fundamental aspects such as the identification and evaluation of risks in transport operations, which is done using the Gross Hazard Analysis methodology. It also contains a strategic plan that incorporates the company’s philosophy and the assignment of responsibilities. An operational plan that highlights the set of actions and reactive decisions to properly and effectively face the risks previously found. Finally, it consists of an information plan that covers a training plan and communication logistics in an emergency. All of the fully articulated parts minimize the possibility of a disaster and in the event that it occurs, reduces the impact the disaster may generate.
