Resumen
Education is always susceptible to continuous improvement, from its methodologies to its contents. Nowadays, we have experienced significant technological advancements, tools, and systems that facilitate and enrich these processes in order to achieve better progress in academia.
In the classroom, multiple operational processes can be enhanced through technology, such as student attendance, teacher attendance, participation, grade management, among others. That being said, it is necessary to ask: what are these processes like and how can they be improved? There are multiple tools that attempt to support these processes. Excel is one of them, but its approach is very open, prone to human errors, and does not provide sufficient customization, as the magic lies in the details. Another tool is the Sistema de Gesti ́on Acad ́emica ”...which supports the development of academic processes as well as various administrative processes related to its mission”(2). However, this system does not include the registration of attendance and participation in the classroom, nor its relation to grades and/or student characteristics. Therefore, there is no tool with the mentioned focus and functionalities that is available for the Universidad Distrital.
This raises the question of the relationship between student's academic performance and their attendance and/or characteristics. Through a web system and a desktop system, this project will seek a path that attempts to connect a student's performance with their attendance, participation, or some of their characteristics.
