Resumen
The image contains a note about: The only way the theatre can be tolerated is when the plays are moral; but when they are quite the opposite, no one who is esteemed, who respects society and has notions of decency and decorum can go to it. As for men, as for the assistance of the fair sex, we dare not say anything, for the bitter reflections which we ought to make spring to our eyes. La Traviata is one of the operas he has given, and the most immoral in its plot, for in it one of the lowest of the ignoble passions is divinized; what ought to be despised is extolled; and under the not always honored robe of poetic fictions, the passion is flattered and painted with bright and bright colours, no longer the errors of the heart, but the mud of brazen recklessness.
