Resumen
Pollution in environmental terms is one of the most important problems of this century along with increasing global warming, one of the most important factors of water pollution, since it is estimated that more than 2000 million cubic meters are polluted daily. An important pollutant in this water pollution is hexavalent chromium, which poses a risk to human health, soil deterioration and contamination of surface and underground water bodies. For these reasons, different treatments are implemented to remove hexavalent chromium, including biosorption. Biosorption is the implementation of biomass of natural origin for the removal of heavy metals from a contaminated aqueous medium. Biosorption implements different compounds, among which are activated carbon, which is a highly porous compound ideal for the removal of heavy metal ions. Taking into account the above, this project aims to collect information regarding the biosorption of hexavalent chromium with the use of activated carbon from coffee grounds, and that said information provides a consultation tool for those who require it in subsequent research.
