Resumen
The product is an essential element for any company or organization, since it is what it will become a source of economic resources or new knowledge base for future developments. The product is born in different ways, generally as a need of the market or society, constituting a problem that must be approached in an appropriate manner by the organization. The above has led entrepreneurs, academics and researchers to formulate product development models that allow this process to be done systemically in order to have an optimal result. The Universidad Distrital Francisco José de Caldas as an institution of higher education is no stranger to the dynamics of product development, given that in its academic, investigative and extension work, it incorporates scenarios that implicitly seek to generation and transfer of knowledge, end with a product or prototype. One of the oldest areas of knowledge in the University is electronics, which started as a radio program, where 80% of the developments in the different scenarios of the University are a prototype (product). Although the UDFJC develops about 200 prototypes (products) per year in the area of electronics, as a result of the activities of academia, research and extension, duly documented and evidenced, there is no PD model recognized and adopted in institutional documents, that constitute a guide for teachers, researchers, officials and students in this activity of development of value and knowledge. The above was a reason to awaken interest in the PD as a research activity for this master's degree project has as its main objective to propose a conceptual model for product development in the area of electronics for the Universidad Distrital Francisco José de Caldas. To achieve the proposed objective, an exploratory methodology was formulated that seeks to identify product development models used at industrial level and/or proposed by academics and researchers around the world. This is to identify conceptual components, product development processes and other elements of the UDFJC that can nourish the proposed model. In a following stage, a proposal-type methodology will be used to formulate the model, to finish with an evaluative stage. The proposed model incorporates conceptual elements of a theoretical basis of product development models, without neglecting components of the academic, research and extension environment of the UDFJC, which can initially be followed by students in academic spaces to maximize results. minimizing time, costs and use of technical and human resources.
