Resumen
In this section of the Voces y Regiones program, the topic of anti-racism programs and their impact on Colombian society is discussed, with a special focus on the department of Quindío and its capital, Armenia. The interviewee highlights the challenges faced by ethnic minorities in the region, especially those living in vulnerable conditions, and emphasizes that education is a key tool in combating racism and promoting equity.
The role of universities and educational institutions in Armenia is emphasized, as they have the ability to train professionals committed to defending human rights and supporting disadvantaged communities. These educational programs not only raise awareness about cultural diversity but also promote initiatives that strengthen social inclusion and respect for differences.
The interviewee also analyzes how racism has historically affected Colombia and how, despite some progress, it continues to impact various sectors in Quindío. Additionally, a call is made to implement effective public policies that guarantee equal opportunities, increase the visibility of Afro-descendant and Indigenous communities, and create spaces for intercultural dialogue that foster peaceful coexistence and social justice in the region.
