El melao de mi ausencia

Abstract

This is a project born of the need to experiment with the technique of blending or "fumage" which is smoked any surface, thus achieving a translucent effect almost radiography project by a period of nearly three years of research, successes and errors, leading me to conclude that what was really looking for was why I vanished life, always trying to understand my current family situation and looking for the roots of what we thought vanished, that ended up being my father and his family, because my life story so far the only protagonist was and still is, my mother and her family. So I took up the matter and decided to undertake a journey in search of that which vanished me, it was not easy to recontact my father yet achieved. All my father's family lives in Barbosa Santander, was the fate that awaited me in my intentions to recover what vanishes without noticing. Three trips I made to this destination, and so I molded my grade text as a chronicle, in those sixty pages I tell the whole journey that I lived when entering a herd did not know and he wanted to enter effectively, in order to heal and collect those lost, elusive and hazy memories. The result of this search was rewarding and enriching for my life story, as I found out amazing things for me, like the fact of having an ancestor who met Bolivar and was a great hero of the country called Francisco Soto, my grandfather lived with two women at once, or that my whole family formed a band called "Los Hermanos Soto" very successful at the time. With my degree work, I wanted to imbue the viewer that feeling of wonder and happiness that I though, feeling that what I vanished recovered. Plastic result was the installation of a disco sphere made in panela and with the words Family Soto and an image of the ancestor aforementioned in the mirrors of that area, under this sphere, a turntable with a disc beeswax sounds, with music from the "Hermanos Soto" within each disc are images and extracted text from the book of Francisco Soto "my suffering and my public behavior" and a smell of brown sugar that floods the place, as the party is lit with lights and sound, and everyone will be invited to the big party "MELAO my absence."
