Resumen
Pavement deterioration leads to increased vehicle operating costs and decreased safety for road users. The following paper presents a methodology to determine the International Roughness Index (IRI) of a road section with the help of a low-cost LIDAR laser scanner. A LIVOX MID 40 LiDAR laser scanner was used to survey the irregularities of the pavement surface. Once the work area was delimited, the scanning and geometric leveling of the roadway were carried out to determine the IRI. On the other hand, when collecting the data, the Global Mapper software is used, which provides the necessary tools to observe the longitudinal profile and export it as a .csv file, where we can perform the relevant calculations from the office Excel tool and compare the data collected with the level of accuracy. The IRI determined with the LIDAR laser scanner is lower than the IRI obtained with the precision level, there being a discrepancy of 11.8 m/km between the two, and therefore it is necessary to deepen the georeferencing system of the scanner to observe better results.
