Resumen
In the interview, Nymia Teresa Vargas, director of the Departmental Network of Chocoan Women, discusses the role of women in Chocó, their political participation and the challenges they face in their region. The Women's Network, which has been working for 21 years, focuses on strategic lines such as education, research, social and institutional development, and economic and political participation. Although women's political participation has grown from 3% in 1997 to 25% today, it is still insufficient to achieve equity, considering that women represent more than 50% of the population of Chocó. The director highlights barriers such as lack of education, family stereotypes and the absence of financial resources for campaigns. In addition, it comments on the problems of unemployment and ungovernability in the region, and presents the Network's initiatives to create productive projects that generate employment and resources for the women of Chocó. He also reflects on his own personal and artistic journey, highlighting the difficulties that local artists face due to a lack of institutional support.
