Abstract

The image presents a news item about: "Material Improvements." There are more than 30 works for private houses that are being built. Many other houses are being reformed, which makes it hope that many streets will be improved; Well, the owners of the constructions always improve the points in which they are made, already composing the pipes, already tiling the sidewalks, already reforming the lousy cobblestones of which we complain so much and with so much reason. In one of our future issues we will give extensive news about this work, and the public will see in it the names of the people who do the most to give the city a more pleasant and regular appearance. ANOTHER STEP OF PROGRESS - The gas lighting project; for which the city council has given an agreement for the contracting of lighting with a foreign company. Will this stay in a project? Hopefully, to carry out this work, the council would come to an understanding with the trade board, this corporation, thanks to the request of its members and especially to the consecration, industry and skill of its worthy president, Gregorio Obregon, has managed to establish a body of night watchmen as active and moral as never before seen, and that daily extends the number of lanterns in the city. We believe that if the council consulted said board, and put some resources at its disposal, gas lighting could well acclimatize in Bogotá.
