Resumen
The thesis "Invalidated Extensions" explores the ambiguity in the contemporary conception of the human body, viewing it as a mechanism rather than a vital organism. Its general objective is to analyze this perception, and it proposes specific objectives that include studying the symbolic impact of objects on the body, their function as receptors of change, and the transformation of the body into a semi-organism. The justification highlights the growing importance of objects in human existence, emphasizing their role as mediators in relationships with the environment and their influence on bodily and mental perception. A theoretical framework is established that considers the necessity of objects as extensions of the body, and the implications of their use in daily life are analyzed. The concept of prosthesis is addressed as a reference to the object that serves to supply deficiencies of the human body, indicating a relationship of dependence between the human being and their object environment. The research seeks to understand how objects, in their interaction with the body, can reflect both human needs and the evolution of this relationship in a changing cultural context.
