The degree project "Study of Solid Waste Management at the Francisco José de Caldas District University, Ciudadela Universitaria Bosa El Porvenir Headquarters" focuses on analyzing and improving solid waste management at this educational institution. The study comprises an exhaustive investigation into current waste management processes, identifying strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats. The main objective is to propose strategies and actions to optimize solid waste management, in order to promote reduction, reuse and recycling within the university campus. The aim is to implement sustainable practices that minimize environmental impact and promote a culture of environmental responsibility among the university community. The project includes the collection and analysis of data related to the generation and disposal of solid waste, as well as the evaluation of the infrastructure and resources available for its management. In addition, pertinent regulatory and legal aspects are considered, as well as the participation and awareness of the different actors involved in the process. It is expected to contribute to the development of environmental management policies and programs at the Francisco José de Caldas District University, with the purpose of promoting sustainability and care for the environment in the university environment and beyond, thus highlighting the importance of the regulations of the Color code for the separation of solid waste, in accordance with the standards established by environmental authorities. This code facilitates the proper classification of waste into different categories (organic, plastic waste, paper, glass, among others), which facilitates its subsequent management and treatment, giving this different connotations which we define through exhaustive research. , the strategies formulated and are reflected in a booklet designed to optimize the comprehensive management of waste in this educational institution. The booklet proposes a series of strategies to improve solid waste management, with the aim of reducing its environmental impact and promoting sustainable practices. These strategies include the implementation of separation systems at the source, environmental awareness and education of the university community, the promotion of recycling and reuse, as well as the proper final disposal of waste. In conclusion, this study offers a comprehensive vision of solid waste management at the Francisco José de Caldas District University, proposing concrete strategies to improve this process and comply with current environmental regulations. The effective implementation of these strategies will not only contribute to environmental conservation, but will also foster a culture of environmental responsibility in the university community.
