Resumen
The leather manufacturing industry in the city of Bogota, has been affected by the closure of companies that are engaged in leather tanning as they pollute the environment through their production processes. On november 20, 2016, the Secretary of Environment of the District closed 277 tanneries out of a total of 300 for not having the permits for dumping required by law. This has generated an impact on the supply for companies engaged in leather goods, footwear and saddlery among others. This project proposes a solution to the problem with the implementation of a plant that produces and markets a product that substitutes leather with fibers from the leaves of the pineapple plant. Although the product is not well known in the industry of leather goods, footwear and saddlery among others, if it has the following advantages: 1.Taking advantage of the lap of a tropical fruit grown in the country. 2.It is biodegradable. 3.The environmental impact is much lower than with other production processes. 4.It is cheaper than the leather generated by cattle. 5.It stimulates the bioeconomy of the country.
