The image contains a news item about the Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs, Mr. Campbell, representing the government of the United Kingdom, met with the Vice President in charge of the executive of Colombia, accompanied by other officials, to perform the role of Chargé d 'Affairs of H.M. the King of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Ireland near the government of Colombia. Mr Campbell expressed his satisfaction with the position and highlighted the importance of the ties of friendship and cooperation between the United Kingdom and Colombia, strengthened by a recent treaty. He assured that the British government will do everything possible to preserve these ties and expressed confidence that Colombia will respond in a similar way.
As a British subject, Mr. Campbell noted that offering a hand of friendship to Colombia is a gesture greatly appreciated by the British people, who have always had a deep interest in Colombia's prosperity. He also congratulated Colombia for its progress and the patriotism and law enforcement observed throughout the country. He stated that these virtues will contribute to maintaining peace and promoting general well-being, just like the qualities and courage of the illustrious Liberator.
Mr. Campbell subsequently introduced Mr. Wall as secretary to the British legation. The Vice President thanked the British government for its friendship and expressed his satisfaction with the recently concluded treaty, highlighting that he hoped it would be the beginning of a closer and more beneficial relationship between both nations.
