Resumen
The vereda of Balsillas located in the municipality of Mosquera has an area of 3686 ha. Much of the surface has natural coverage of dense grassland of the mainland and where the climatic and pedological conditions classify the biome as an "Azonal orobioma andean of the cundiboyacense altiplano" in which the xerophytic and subxerophytic vegetation predominates. The ecosystem is threatened by changes in land use, especially for mining practices that generate deterioration of the ecosystem. A multi-temporal analysis is carried out to determine the changes of the coverage in a period of 15 years (2002-2017) along with a characterization of the horizontal structure of the ecosystem and finally a proposal of guidelines for the conservation and recovery of the biome.
