Resumen
The image contains news about the opposition to the tradition of military retreats near the presidential residence in Colombia, arguing that this practice causes inconveniences of various kinds. Interference with theatrical performances, disorder in the area, the presence of drunk people and obstruction of traffic are mentioned. The suppression of this custom is advocated, highlighting that in the United States, even near the White House, it is not customary to hold military retreats. The author emphasizes that the decision should fall to the judgment of the President of the Republic, who belongs to a social portion more accessible to discussion and reasoning. It is argued that the example of European courts supports the idea of avoiding toilets near royal palaces. Furthermore, it is noted that the inhabitants of the palace in Colombia seem indifferent to the arguments and examples presented, which makes it difficult to eliminate this custom. Interference with theatrical performances, disorder in the area, and lack of regard for public convenience are presented as additional reasons for the suppression of this practice. News published by the Diario de Cundinamarca, No. 300, January 11-1882.
