Resumen
The research focused on the design of a fuel storage tank with a capacity of 2,500 gallons, intended to supply three power plants at Claro Ortezal's operations headquarters. The tank must meet specific requirements, such as its horizontal layout, feed system, connections for sensors and returns, in addition to conforming to recognized technical standards, in particular API-650. This standard establishes guidelines for the selection of materials, design, manufacture, assembly and inspection of atmospheric tanks used in storage. Based on these requirements, critical design elements were analyzed, including the calculation of the thickness of the plates, the general dimensions of the tank, the selection of materials and the conformation of the lateral concave covers. The methodology applied included the review and analysis of technical standards such as API-650 and ASTM, the development of a conceptual design, the performance of technical calculations and the validation of the design through planimetry and conceptual review. This approach ensures that the tank complies with safety and structural integrity standards.
