Resumen
This section of the Voces y Regiones program addresses the issue of anti-personnel mines in Colombia, as a continuation of the previous episode (Programa Cundinamarca 23), but now within the context of the peace process taking place in Havana, Cuba. The interviewee shares their experience related to these devices within the framework of the Colombian conflict and human rights, detailing the severe consequences for those who are injured and mutilated, as well as the social and economic paralysis they cause in rural areas. Additionally, the discussion explains the manufacturing processes, the methods used to deploy these mines in different territories, and the high cost the State must bear for their removal throughout the country. The conversation also highlights the forced displacement these mines cause among Indigenous and farming communities, and how this phenomenon deepens Colombia’s historical land issues, particularly concerning land retribution and restitution.
