Babiole

Abstract

This thesis exposes the artistic creation-research project entitled Babiole. In this the memories are presented as a result of the experience in Paris (France), as well as the research work within the discourse of contemporary art and finally the reinstallation of the work in Bogotá (Colombia). Babiole is a world of extravagant, absurd and poetic characters-machines, conceived as an interactive installation, show and performance. These are figurative, material and immaterial, plastic and organic. The mechanical part of each piece and object in the installation is a fundamental part of the work, which is completed with video projections on structures. Once in motion, the interactive game between the machine and the viewer creates the extraordinary fiction of a grotesque and satirical scene of the human world. At the same time, it explores psychic and mental elements of the human condition. In this way, the result of the image then seems an unsuspected poetry, ironically humanity is conceived as the mockery of ourselves. Finally, the installation in Bogotá is a record of the work that was done in another part of the world, an independent self-contained work, where the register set up in another installation is configured, in short, the record is presented as a work.
