| dc.description.abstract | This report is developed in the context of an internship at Fábrica Colombiana de Repuestos Automotores S.A. (FRACO S.A.), a company dedicated to the manufacture of gaskets and retainers for gasoline and diesel engines. The need to update the safety data sheets (SDS) and raw material labeling arose from Colombia's accession to the Globally Harmonized System (GHS) under Decree 1496 of 2018 and Resolution 773 of 2021. The problem identified lies in the lack of alignment of the SDS and labeling with GHS regulations, which represents a risk to both legal compliance and worker health. The company has 165 raw material references that require updating to comply with current regulations. The solution developed consisted of updating the SDS and labeling raw materials according to GHS criteria. Proposals were made, such as ongoing training to inform workers about risks and mitigation measures. A matrix was designed to classify items according to the pictogram and its subcategories. Another matrix was designed to associate personal protective equipment (PPE) with the raw materials used. Health indicators were used for items that provide this information in their MSDSs. ADMET analysis related to the possibility of bioaccumulation was used as a first approach and for informational purposes. Furthermore, the company's efforts in its safe storage process and a compatibility matrix were developed to ensure the stability of flammable substances. The results are aligned with compliance with legal regulations. Updating the MSDSs and labeling in accordance with the GHS not only meets legal requirements but also reinforces the company's commitment to the safety and well-being of its employees. In conclusion, the project to update the MSDSs and labeling at FRACO S.A. The project was completed according to the established schedule and work plan. Work was also carried out on proposals that included mitigating risks associated with the handling of raw materials, ensuring a safer work environment and complying with current regulations. | |
