Resumen
In Colombia, 77. 1% of the population lives in urban areas, causing rapid growth in the construction sector, and an accentuated demand for resources and inputs for the production of construction materials and the excessive increase in the generation of solid waste. This sector is responsible for the use of 36% of total energy consumed, 60% of raw materials, 12% of drinking water and 30% of waste generation, in addition to being responsible for almost half of greenhouse gas emissions - GHG. In response to this problem that is configured as the propitious scenario to promote the development and use of materials coming from the use of residues and in joint work with the Ministry of Environment and Sustainable Development, it is proposed to generate awareness to producers, constructors and the community in general, through a guide of sustainable construction materials where the environmental benefits that can be achieved with the substitution of natural raw materials for alternative inputs coming from the use of solid residues are highlighted, and at the same time the economic and social benefits that in the framework of the circular economy could obtain the actors present in the value chain of each one of the construction materials.
