| dc.description | El locutor inicia el programa conmemorando el Día Nacional de los Derechos Humanos y resaltando la figura de San Pedro Claver como un ejemplo de lucha por la dignidad humana. Nacido en España en 1580, Claver se unió a la Compañía de Jesús y fue enviado a Cartagena de Indias, un importante puerto de comercio de esclavos en el siglo XVII. Conmovido por la difícil situación de los africanos esclavizados, dedicó su vida a atender sus necesidades espirituales y materiales. Aprendió sus idiomas, les proporcionaba alimentos y medicinas y los bautizaba, asegurándoles que eran hijos de Dios y que tenían dignidad, a pesar del trato inhumano que recibían. Su labor en tierras americanas lo convirtió en un símbolo del cristianismo comprometido con la justicia y la igualdad. Fue canonizado en 1888 y reconocido como el patrono de los derechos humanos en Colombia. | dc.description.abstract | The broadcaster begins the program by commemorating the National Human Rights Day and highlighting Saint Peter Claver as an example of the fight for human dignity. Born in Spain in 1580, Claver joined the Society of Jesus and was sent to Cartagena de Indias, a major slave trade port in the 17th century. Deeply moved by the suffering of enslaved Africans, he dedicated his life to attending to their spiritual and material needs. He learned their languages, provided them with food and medicine, and baptized them, assuring them that they were children of God and possessed dignity despite the inhumane treatment they endured. His work in the Americas made him a symbol of Christianity committed to justice and equality. He was canonized in 1888 and is recognized as the patron saint of human rights in Colombia. The program concludes by highlighting the educational opportunities available to young people at SENA, an institution that offers technical and vocational training in various fields, helping them access better job opportunities and contribute to the country’s development. | |
