Resumen
This research project, “ICA Certification and PROCEDA Formulation at the Biochar S.A.S. Forest Nursery in the Municipality of La Calera, Cundinamarca,” aims to integrate the technical certification process of a forest nursery by the Colombian Agricultural Institute (ICA) with the development of a Citizen Environmental Education Project (PROCEDA). The initiative seeks to promote ecological restoration through the eradication of the invasive species Ulex europaeus (Scotch broom) and reforestation with native species in the high Andean ecosystems of La Calera. The main objective is to document compliance with ICA’s legal, administrative, and phytosanitary requirements for nursery certification while formulating an educational and participatory strategy that strengthens community involvement in environmental management. The methodology follows a mixed approach, combining quantitative and qualitative techniques across three main components: the ICA certification process, the PROCEDA formulation, and the design of pedagogical strategies for environmental education and community participation. The results are expected to ensure the technical validation and legal recognition of the Biochar S.A.S. nursery, support community-based reforestation with native species, and establish educational tools that foster environmental awareness and stewardship. The integration of ICA certification and PROCEDA creates a sustainable model for ecological restoration that aligns with Colombia’s national environmental policies, promoting biodiversity conservation, local empowerment, and responsible use of natural resources.
