Resumen
This thesis presents the results of the implementation of a process based on objects elevation models with the aim of extracting geomorphological units in the Colombian geography classification. Knowledge of classes emphasize that exist in a geographical area, it is important in many studies of environmental nature, planning, territorial and geological system part. The methodology used in this project makes use of object-based classification and search have better performance compared to conventional techniques in which commonly prevails expert interpretation conjugated secondary information existing in the area. The methodology uses a segmentation technique based on growing regions called multiresolution. For optimization of the prior art local variance which allows for a scale parameter associated with better homogeneity and size of the input image according objects it is used. The scale of selected work is the scale of 1: 25,000, and the study area has an official geomorphological classification of the former National Geological Survey Weber County, for the scale to determine accuracy of the classification of 70%, allowing determine that the methodology object-based classification supports landforms a savings in over 50% of the amount of time and resources compared to methods based on image interpretation and mapping existing support.
