Abstract

In this edition of Voces y Regiones, the creation and development of the Disability and Public Policy Unit in San José del Guaviare is highlighted, focusing on the identification and inclusion of people with disabilities. The program discusses key regulations in Colombia, such as Law 1145 of 2007, which establishes the National Disability System to guarantee rights in education, health, and employment, as well as Decree 1317 of 2017, which regulates accessibility in public spaces. Additionally, the importance of controlling private constructions in public spaces is addressed, as these can hinder the free mobility of people with disabilities. The need to modify traffic lights is also emphasized to reduce road hazards and improve safety for this population. Finally, an architectural project designed in the municipality is highlighted, aiming to facilitate the integration and active participation of people with disabilities in the community.
