Resumen
The image contains a news item about: "Mutual education. Public examination in the Lancastrian school." The director of the Lancastrian school of this capital, retired captain Juan de Dios Haro, presented on the 22nd of this year a public examination with 150 children of reading, writing, elements of religious arithmetic, human rights, and morals. The attendees, among whom were the vice president of the Republic, the mayor of the department, three rejidores deputies for the municipality, and the canon dr. José Maria Esteves, as waiters, were very pleased with the distribution of the children and the zeal of the preceptor. Some prizes were distributed right there, and it was noted with surprise that a four or five year old child, the son of an artisan, vividly answered several questions about the rights of man.
