Resumen
The Weekly Journal of the New Kingdom of Granada was the first scientific publication in the Viceroyalty of New Granada. It was printed at the printing press of Bruno Espinosa de los Monteros and edited by the scientist Francisco José de Caldas from Popayán. In the April 1808 issue, Caldas presents “Meteorological Observations for the Month of March 1808, Made at the Astronomical Observatory of Santafé de Bogotá by Francisco José de Caldas” and “Memoir on Snakes and Plan of Observations to Clarify the Natural History of Those that Inhabit the New Kingdom of Granada and to Ascertain the True Remedies Capable of Helping Those Bitten by Venomous Snakes. By Jorge Tadeo Lozano Maldonado de Mendoza, Member of the Royal Botanical Expedition of Santafé de Bogotá, and in charge, with Royal Approval, of its Zoological Section.”
