Resumen
Milking, an age-old ritual intertwined with the rural lifestyle of Sesquilé, holds a unique significance in the lives of its inhabitants; this practice not only produces economic sustenance in the form of dairy products, but also carries with it the collective memory and culture of the community. As one walks the path of self-discovery, the humble act of milking, which seems mundane on the surface, becomes meaningful, but serves as a thread that binds past, present, and future generations together. The milking process, with its complexities and rituals, embodies a wealth of cultural heritage and through art, this heritage finds expression. This thesis embarks on a multidimensional journey that seeks to uncover the symbolism and artistic possibilities inherent in the act of milking in Sesquilé. It strives to bridge the gap between personal experience, cultural preservation, and artistic expression, weaving together the threads of memory, identity, and tradition. Through a meticulous examination of the milking process as an art form, we aim to shed light on how seemingly ordinary objects can transcend their materiality, to become carriers of profound cultural meaning. The village of Sesquilé, with its rich history and vibrant community, serves as the backdrop for this exploration: a place where rural practices take center stage and the boundaries between past and present blur. As we navigate this fascinating terrain, we hope to discover not only the transformative power of culture, but also the ability of art to capture and preserve the essence of a village and its heritage. This thesis is an ode to the enduring importance of milking in Sesquilé, a testament to the resilience of tradition, and an artistic journey into the heart of cultural memory.
