Abstract

The image contains news about a report, issued from the Prefecture of Cundinamarca in November 1831, which highlights the importance of agriculture and presents measures for its promotion. Mention is made of the formation of a commission to evaluate the state of agriculture, the attached report of which is presented as accurate and simple. The report proposes various measures to promote agriculture, such as easing the tax burden on farmers, combating idleness and promoting population growth. It is suggested to punish public incontinence, reduce the army and promote the immigration of foreigners to enrich the Republic. The importance of promoting the arts along with agriculture is highlighted, since without them, the latter cannot fully prosper. The creation of provincial assemblies with broad powers to promote local prosperity and the creation of chairs of chemistry and botany to improve knowledge related to agriculture are also proposed.
