Resumen
The present research exposes the results of the investigation and case study on the interdisciplinarity of art as a generator of communication channels for the elderly, carried out in the charity entity San Pedro Claver care center. This work contains an introduction, three chapters, conclusions, recommendations, bibliography, and annexes. Chapter one presents the antecedents including policies for the elderly population, likewise a brief history of charity in Colombia and a conjecture of arts education and eld. Identifying the stance that Education Ministry and the Colombian Government have of orienting experiences in the educational field for learning and understanding art. Chapter two states common pathologies, characteristics of the elderly and methodologies for the development of communicative processes based on different authors who understand the strategies and contents at the moment of intervening the population and the implementation of the research. From the theoretical elements collected in chapters one and two, therefore in chapter number three comprises the formulation of a methodological proposal that seeks to answer problem through artistic workshops designed for the elderly in a state of physical and mental decline. Finally, the analysis of results thrown during the fieldwork about the functionality of art and the multiple alternatives found by the elderly population to understand and express their ways of acting, feeling and thinking. In the same way, there is a specific analysis of actions, rights, and duties of the state, society, and institutions that watch over the care of these people.
