With great pleasure we have seen that the foundations of the new school of the first parish of the Republic are being laid, and it will also have the character of normal. The Primary Education Society of Bogotá, with its own funds, has begun to build this building in a corner of the Observatory site of this city, a central and convenient site for the object to which it will be applied. The value of the land will be recognized by census by the municipal council of this canton in favor of the public treasury. The school will be 30 yards long and 10 yards wide, a beautiful corridor and all the amenities for the health and education of the children. May God grant that we see it completed, and that the present and future generations take advantage of this benefit, blessing, as we do, the hand that dispenses it.
